TPS3803-01QDCKRQ1 Description

The TPS3803-Q1 and TPS3805-Q1 families of supervisory circuits are mostly used for initialization and timing supervision in digital signal processors (DSPs) and processor-based systems.

The TPS3803G15-Q1 device has an internal voltage divider that sets a fixed sense threshold voltage known as VIT. In contrast, the TPS3803-01-Q1 device has an adjustable SENSE input that two external resistors can configure. Aside from the constant sensing threshold tracked by VDD, Each of the TPS3805-Q1 devices also has a SENSE input that can be adjusted independently. If either of the two voltages drops to a level lower than VIT, RESET will be asserted.

When the supply voltage VDD reaches a level greater than 0.8 volts during the power-on process, the RESET signal is activated. Following that, the supervisory circuit continues to monitor VDD (and SENSE), and it maintains an active state for RESET for as long as either VDD or SENSE keeps a voltage lower than the threshold voltage VIT. The RESET signal is no longer asserted when VDD (SENSE) reaches a voltage higher than the threshold voltage VIT. The product spectrum was developed for supply voltages of 1.5 V and 3.3 V and an adjustable range between those extremes. The components are offered in an SC-70 package with 5 pins and are available. The TPS3803-Q1 and the TPS3805-Q1 devices have been tested and proven to function correctly over a temperature range of –40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius.

Features for the TPS3803-Q1

  • Appropriate for use in Automotive Applications
  • Adjustable and 1.5 V are both features of the Single Voltage Detector (TPS3803).

  • The typical supply current is 3 A when VDD is set to 3.3 V.
  • Reset Outputs with Push/Pull Operation (TPS3805) and Open-Drain Operation (TPS3803).
  • Temperatures can range anywhere from –40°C to +125°C.
  • 5-Pin SC-70 Package.

Detailed Description

Overview

The TPS380x-Q1 devices are low-current supervisory circuits utilized to monitor system voltages greater than 1.226 volts. When the VDD voltage, the SENSE voltage, or both of these voltages drop below the predetermined threshold, the devices send out an active low RESET signal. The RESET output will remain low until either the VDD voltage, the SENSE voltage, or both of these voltages return to levels higher than their respective thresholds. In addition, the devices’ VDD and SENSE pins are designed to resist the effects of brief negative transients.

Feature Description

● VDD and SENSE Monitoring

A pin is provided by the VDD and SENSE inputs that can be used to monitor the system’s voltage. If the voltage on this pin falls below VIT, the RESET signal will be asserted low. A hysteresis already built into the comparator helps ensure that RESET assertions and de-assertions run smoothly.

● Transient Immunity

On the VDD and SENSE pins, the TPS380x-Q1 devices can withstand brief negative transients without experiencing any adverse effects. The importance of threshold overdrive cannot be overstated when discussing the sensitivity to transients. These graphs compare the amount of time that the transient voltage is below VIT to the voltage drop magnitude, referred to as the threshold overdrive voltage. If the sum of the transient duration and the overdrive voltage is larger than the values indicated by the curves, RESET will be declared to be in the off state. The device will disregard any transients below the curves in their analysis.

Device Functional Modes

Both the TPS3803-01-Q1 and the TPS3803G15-Q1 only monitor a single supply, which is referred to as SENSE. The value of RESET will be high whenever that supply is greater than the VIT threshold. In that case, the value of RESET will be low. TPS3805H33-Q1 is capable of monitoring both VDD and SENSE simultaneously. RESET will be high when VDD and SENSE are located more than the VIT threshold. In that case, the value of RESET will be low.

Application Information

When either VDD or SENSE falls below a predetermined voltage threshold known as VIT, an active-low RESET signal is transmitted from the TPS380x-Q1 voltage supervisor devices. Before the voltages rise above their set points, the RESET signal will be kept at a low level. The TPS3803G15-Q1 and the TPS3805H33-Q1 are options with a fixed voltage. The TPS3803-01-Q1 can monitor voltages greater than 1.226 V and is adjustable. The TPS3803G15-Q1 and the TPS3803-01-Q1 have open drain outputs, so the RESET line needs an external pull-up.

Design Requirements

TPS3803G15-Q1 is the ideal component to use when only a supply rail requiring 1.5 V needs to be monitored. When monitoring a single voltage above 1.226 V, use the TPS3803-01-Q1. When watching 3.3 V and higher-than-1.226 V supplies, use TPS3805H33-Q1.

Last but not least

The TPS3803-01QDCKRQ1 voltage monitoring IC from Texas Instruments helps with this. Protect yourself even further from Undervoltage and overvoltage by installing a voltage regulator in your circuit. Thereby ensuring that all of your components will remain intact. The maximum amount of power that this apparatus can dissipate is 321 milliwatts. The maximum amount of energy it can dissipate is 321 mW. This part will be packaged securely in tape and reel for shipment to avoid damage in transit and allow for rapid assembly once it arrives at its destination. It has an adjustable minimum, and maximum reset threshold voltages of Adj V. Adj V is the typical reset threshold voltage. This voltage supervisor IC can operate at -40 to 125 degrees Celsius, depending on the situation. This apparatus requires a minimum operating supply voltage of 1.3 V and a maximum operating supply voltage of 6 V to function correctly.
