AD8606ARMZ General Description

Single-supply amplifiers with single, dual, and quad rail-to-rail input and output are provided by the AD8605, AD8606, and AD86081, respectively. They have low input voltage noise, very low offset voltage, and low input current noise, in addition to wide signal bandwidth. They use the Analog Devices, Inc. patented DigiTrim® trimming process, which achieves higher precision without laser trimming. These amplifiers’ versatility results from their low noise, low offsets, and rapid speed, which make them suitable for various applications. The combination of performance qualities benefits various components, including integrators, filters, photodiode amplifiers, and high-impedance sensors.

AD8606ARMZ Applications Information

● Output Phase Reversal

When a voltage greater than the maximum input common-mode voltage drives the amplifier’s input, this phenomenon is known as phase reversal. Phase reversal is defined as a change in polarity at the output of the amplifier. In addition to causing the amplifier to sustain irreversible damage, phase reversal has the potential to lock up feedback loops in the system. Even for input voltages greater than 2 V over the supply voltage, the AD8605 does not display any signs of phase reversal.

● Maximum Power Dissipation

The increase in die temperature that results when power is lost within an integrated circuit (IC) can affect both the IC’s behavior and the application circuit’s performance. The junction temperature of AD8605, AD8606, and AD8608 can reach an absolute maximum of 150 degrees Celsius. The equipment could be rendered useless or broken if you exceed this temperature.


The total harmonic distortion is the ratio of the input signal’s value in volts-root-mean-square to the value of all of the spectrum’s total harmonics in volts-root-mean-square. Harmonic distortion causes unpleasant auditory distortions produced by audio systems and introduces flaws in precise measurement processes. Total harmonic distortion is kept to a minimum by the AD860x. Figure 48 demonstrates that the AD8605 has a total harmonic distortion (THD+N) level that is less than 0.005%, or 86 dB, across the audio frequency range. The AD8605 is set up with a load of 10k and a configuration with a positive unity gain, which is the worst possible scenario.

● Total Noise Including Source Resistors

Because of its low input current noise and input bias current, the AD860x is the appropriate amplifier for circuits such as photodiodes with considerable input source resistance. At 85°C, the input offset voltage increases by 10 nV for every 1 k of source resistance, compared to less than 0.5 nV at ambient temperature.

● Channel Separation

Channel separation, also known as inverse crosstalk, is a measurement of the signal feed that travels from one amplifier (channel) on the same IC to another amplifier. Because the channel separation of the AD8606 is higher than 160 dB up to frequencies of 1 MHz, it is possible for the two amplifiers to amplify ac signals separately in the vast majority of applications.

● Capacitive Load Drive

The AD860x is capable of driving capacitive loads of significant size without oscillating. In this scenario, the amplifier is set up to have a unity gain of positive, which is the worst-case scenario for stability, and it is driving a load of 1000 pF at its output. Driving capacitive loads of a greater magnitude while maintaining unity gain may call for the utilization of more circuitry.

● Light Sensitivity

The AD8605ACB (WLCSP packaging option) is a silicon die with some additional post-fabrication dielectric and intermetallic processing. This processing was meant to connect solder bumps on the active side of the chip. While using this packaging, the die is open to the surrounding light and is, therefore, susceptible to photoelectric effects. The light sensitivity analysis performed on the AD8605ACB while it was mounted on standard PCB material showed that the only parameter changed when the package is irradiated directly by high-intensity light is the input bias current (IB).

The illumination by low-intensity (0.1 mW/cm2) ambient light does not appear to have any negative effect on the electrical performance of the device. At a light intensity of 3 mW/cm2 and a wavelength of 850 nm, IB can reach levels as high as 4500 pA. The light intensities that are displayed in Figure 53 are not typical for most applications. This is because even if the light intensity of direct sunlight can reach up to 50 mW/cm2, the light intensity of office ambient light can drop as low as 0.1 mW/cm2.
